Here is Wednesday’s news and gossip concerning Liverpool:
Liverpool have completed one of the biggest deals of the summer so far, after Roberto Firmino agreed his move to Anfield, BBC Sport report.
The £29m deal for the Brazilian playmaker will be completed once he completes a medical upon his return from the Copa America.
And the Reds appear to already be in talks over their sixth signing of the summer, with the Daily Star reporting that the club have held discussions with Inter Milan over Mateo Kovacic.
The Star report that the Serie A side want £21.3m for the Croatian, who is being lined up by Brendan Rodgers as a possible Steven Gerrard replacement.
The Daily Express report that despite the signing of Firmino, a new striker remains on Brendan Rodgers’ shopping list.
Christian Benteke remains a target, but the Reds are not willing to pay the Belgian’s £32.5m release clause.
The agent of Atletico Madrid star Arda Turan has confirmed that the midfielder is in talks over a move to the Premier League this summer, according to the Daily Express.
Liverpool are one of the clubs reportedly interested in the player, as well as Manchester United and Arsenal.
Finally, Steven Gerrard has confirmed that he could never have played for Chelsea, due to his love for the Merseyside club, the Daily Express.
However, he did admit that he would have liked to have played under Jose Mourinho, and feels he would have won more trophies had he gone to Stamford Bridge.
