Liverpool have reportedly become the front-runners to sign Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez, as Brendan Rodgers attempts to add even more depth to his new looking side.
According to the Daily Express, the Mexican international – who has only recently returned from a season-long loan at Real Madrid – has been told that he will be allowed to leave Old Trafford this summer, having failed to make an impression on Louis van Gaal since the Dutchman’s arrival last year.
And while Juventus and Inter Milan are in the running, the Express report that it is the Reds that lead the chase.
Should the 27-year-old arrive through the door, he would join Danny Ings and Roberto Firmino, both of whom have recently arrived to try and help banish the painful struggles of their side going forward last season.
While Hernandez may be in competition with the pair for a place in the team, he will certainly bring something different, having established himself as a lethal poacher, something that the Anfield faithful were crying out for last year.
