Manchester United are set to send the transfer race for Liverpool’s Raheem Sterling into overdrive as they prepare their own £25m bid for the winger, according to the Daily
Manchester United Transfer Gossip
United made an initial approach for the unsettled 20-year-old last month, which was promptly rejected by the Reds hierarchy.
However, van Gaal is not yet ready to give up on the chase for the starlet, and will test Liverpool’s resolve in the coming days with a renewed bid.
The Dutchman sees Sterling as one of the most exciting prospects in the country and believes he would suit the style he is attempting to implement at Old Trafford.
Van Gaal also believes that Sterling will make the exit from Anfield this summer because of the contract stalemate between the club and the player, and will make his move in the coming days.
But United’s interest could spark cross-city rivals Manchester City into action, who have also been credited with an interest in prizing him away from Anfield themselves.
The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also said to be keen, though it is believed that Sterling would prefer a return to London.
