Manchester United have reportedly offered a lucrative new deal to Barcelona starlet Inaki Pena in an attempt to prize him away from the Nou Camp this summer, according to the Metro.
The 16-year-old goalkeeper is highly-rated by the Catalan club, and they are thought to be desperate to keep hold of him as he is tipped for a bright future.
But the La Liga champions are worried about him defecting to Old Trafford, after reports in Spain suggested that United would attempt to snap him up by offering him a 500% wage increase.
A release clause in Pena’s contract means the Red Devils can pay £2.3m at any point to release the teenager from his contract at Barca.
However, they want to fend off United’s interest by offering him a new deal of their own.
Pena is still thought to be a long way off making a first team appearances for Barcelona, but is still being thought of as one of the finest young goalkeepers in the world.
