However, with only three English teams able to secure automatic passage into the group stages, United will be forced to fight their way in through the qualification round, meaning they will have to take on another European big gun.

And now, Sky Sports have revealed the list of teams United may face thanks to the seedings based on the UEFA co-efficient:

Sporting Lisbon
CSKA Moscow
Lazio
Club Brugge
AS Monaco
Young Boys
Sparta Prague
Fenerbahce
Panathinaikos
Rapid Vienna

A first glance at the list would suggest that United should be keen to avoid tricky meetings with Lazio or Monaco. Though CSKA Moscow and Sporting Lisbon also stand out as difficult encounters.

The draw for the games will be made in Nyon, Switzerland on August 7th, with the likes of Rapid Vienna and Young Boys being tipped as the most favourable opponents.
