Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has delivered a huge blow to the club’s fans by saying that reports of his signing a new deal are totally false, the Daily
The Slovakian international claims that both fans and the media have been duped by a fake Facebook profile that stated he had penned a new contract extension to stay at Anfield.
Skrtel has been locked in ongoing talks about a new deal with the club, but has yet to put pen-to-paper on an agreement yet after he said that their latest offer was “unacceptable”.
“I have my own profile on Facebook. I use it for communication with my fans and I operate it through the agency Stars and Friends,” he said.
“I strongly disavow the profile on which the false information was published. I have not created the profile and I do not have a clue who the administrator is.”
The 30-year-old has made a total of 293 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 17 goals since arriving back in 2008, however, despite his past heroics, his injury record last season has seen Liverpool make him an offer based on how much he featured, which he feels is unacceptable for someone of his age.
With just one year left on his current deal, he is said to be attracting interest from the likes of Inter Milan.
