Former Manchester United flop Radamel Falcao is ready to ignore the interest of Chelsea, as he instead wants to join Liverpool.
Chelsea Transfer Gossip
According to the Daily Express, the Colombian forward feels he has a better chance of game time at Anfield than he does with the Premier League champions.
The news will be a blow to Jose Mourinho, who appeared to confirm his interest in the Monaco man by suggesting that he wanted to help the 29-year-old prove that he could still be the striker that gave defences in Spain and Portugal – with Atletico Madrid and Porto respectively – nightmares, rather than the one that looked completely bereft of confidence at Old Trafford (via BBC).
Although Falcao may feel he has a better chance of playing for the Reds than he does for Chelsea, which may be true should Diego Costa be as prolific as he has been during his debut season in England, he does more competition for a place on Merseyside.
As well as Daniel Sturridge – who will surely be first-choice should he be fit – and the cluster of flops that Brendan Rodgers appeared to lose confidence with at the back end of last season, Liverpool have already added Danny Ings, and have Divock Origi finally arriving after completing a move last year.
And while the Falcao of old would arguably shoot straight to the top of any pecking order, the forward that frustrated United fans so much last season may find his task of breaking into the side a lot more challenging.
