Liverpool fans have had it rough the past couple of weeks. They’ve lost Stevie G, seen their challenge for the top four fall away, watched Kolo Toure pen a new deal and now face losing the brightest spark in their squad, Raheem Sterling.
It’s fair to say that the Kop faithful need something to smile about.
So, step forward defensive rock Martin Skrtel, who gave a brutally honest answer to the question, posed by TV crews from station Akualne in his native Slovakia, of whether he would ever play for arch rivals Manchester United.
The 30-year-old has also been linked with a move away of his own in recent weeks, after claiming that the deal he was offered was nowhere near good enough.
“The contract which has been offered to me is unacceptable, so I did not sign,” he’d said.
IT’s still unclear as to what his future holds, but one thing is for sure – he won’t be joining Manchester United anytime soon.
