Arsenal considering bid for Newcastle prospect as contract saga drags on

Arsenal are weighing up the possibility of making a surprising bid for Newcastle winger Rolando Aarons, after the Metro suggested that the youngster is yet to sign a new deal with the Magpies.

The Metro report that The Gunners have been alerted about the situation, as despite suggestions that talks were reaching a conclusion, the 19-year-old is still a long way off agreeing a contract.

However, they may have to beat off competition from Premier League rivals Liverpool, who, according to the Metro, are also monitoring his situation.

Despite the north London outfit’s interest, Aarons has yet to make a major impression at St James’ Park. Despite being considered as one of the most exciting prospects in the country, he made just four substitute appearances in the Premier League last season, with his only starts coming in the Capital One Cup.

Nevertheless, he was included in England’s squad for the recent Toulon Tournament, helping the Three Lions finish fourth in the competition. His only goal came in the final group game against China.
