Arsene Wenger has switched his attention towards La Liga as he tries to put together a squad capable of winning the Premier League for the first time in 11 years.
According to the Daily Star, the Arsenal boss is considering making a £17.8m bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, whose future at the Bernabeu remains in doubt.
The Star suggest that new Los Blancos boss Rafael Benitez wants Cristiano Ronaldo to start the campaign as the main striker, leaving the Frenchman to consider his options.
Wenger is a big fan of his countryman, so may be willing to offer a way out of Spain, should he become unhappy if he is forced to play second fiddle.
And he could be joined at the Emirates by Barcelona winger Pedro, with the Independent reporting that the north London side have made contact about a possible move.
The 27-year-old has struggled to cement a regular place in Luis Enrique’s team, and thus may be allowed to leave the Nou Camp for around £15m, the Independent suggest.
