Manchester United and Arsenal are reportedly set to battle it out for Argentine international defender Ezequiel Garay, according to the Daily
United have been linked with a move for Garay for some time now, but The Express have now claimed that Arsenal have joined them in their interest of the Zenit St Petersburg ace.
In what is now turning into a veritable daisy chain of transfers, it is thought that United are looking at Garay as a replacement for apparent first choice target Sergio Ramos. However, Valencia are also believed to be keen on bringing the 28-year-old back to La Liga as a replacement for another Man United target Nicolas Otamendi (via Daily Star).
But United could face some competition from the Gunners for Garay’s signature, as Arsene Wenger reportedly eyes a loan move for him should Gabriel fail to impress in the pre-season build up.
Garay initially cost Zenit the meagre fee of £4.2m, and would represent a huge bargain when compared to what Ramos and Otamendi would reportedly cost.
