Teenage winger Bobby Adekanye has taken to Instagram to confirm that he has joined Liverpool from Barcelona.
Despite being just 16-years-old, the Nigerian-born Dutchman has already been compared to his compatriot Arjen Robben.
Barcelona brought him to the club as a 12-year-old, but his transfer was one of seven that raised concerns regarding the club’s behaviour that has since resulted in them being slapped with a transfer embargo until January 2016.
Adekanye spent the 2014/15 season on loan at PSV Eindhoven, and though they, Ajax and Barca were all vying for his signature, it’s Liverpool that have come out on top in the race for his signature.
The young winger confirmed the deal on his own Instagram page on Thursday evening with the caption “I am very happy to sign for Liverpool”.
With Adekanye and Jordon Ibe, manager Brendan Rodgers now has two ready made replacements for Raheem Sterling, who is still being linked with an exit from the club this summer.
