Despite the fact that he will not be able to play until January, Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan looks set to reject a move to Chelsea in favour of a switch to Barcelona.
According to the Daily Mail, the Catalan giants want to sign the 28-year-old, and are willing to pay £25m to get a deal across the line.
However, the captain of the Turkish national side will not be able to play in any competitive games until 2016, as Luis Enrique’s side continue to work under a transfer embargo that prevents them registering any players until the new year.
The news will be a concern to Jose Mourinho, who had been offered the opportunity to sign the midfielder, the Guardian reported. The same report suggested that Turan would be keen on a move to the Premier League, and Stamford Bridge in particular.
However, it now appears that Mourinho will have to look elsewhere, as Turan closes in on a move to the Nou Camp.
