Chelsea given boost in Pedro pursuit as he reveals Barcelona lower £106m buyout clause

Barcelona star Pedro has confirmed that the club have agreed to lower his release clause according to the Daily Express.

The spanish champions aren’t thought to be keen to let him go this summer, and have recently signed him to a new four-year deal, but have also lowered his buy out clause, which the player felt was set too high.

Pedro admitted that though he is looking forward to reuniting with his teammates for pre-season training, he also admitted that he is in a tough situation at the Nou Camp, and his comments suggest that he could be open to a summer move away.

“It’s true, the two parties decided to lower the clause and it’s true that there are offers,” he said.

“I am in a difficult situation at Barcelona. I do not want to advance anything, I am only looking forward to starting with my team-mates and beginning work.

“I do not want to think about the future, I want to rest, be calm, start pre-season on Wednesday with my team-mates and then whatever comes, we shall see.”

Chelsea are known admirers of the Spanish international, with The Express reporting that Jose Mourinho has already launched a £20m bid to prize him away.

However, the report goes on to say that though his buyout fee has been reduced, it still remains rather high, meaning that if Mourinho is keen to do a deal he will have to negotiate harder in order to bring him to Stamford Brisge.

Pedro has made 318 appearances for Barcelona since making his debut back in 2008, and has scored 98 goals during that time.
