Premier League champions Chelsea are reported to be close to completing the signing of Augsburg youngster Abdul Baba Rahman, according to the Metro.
The 21-year-old has been on the radars of a number of top clubs already, but with Chelsea having sold Felipe Luis back to Atletico Madrid earlier this week, Jose Mourinho is ready to complete the deal to ensure he isn’t beaten to the player’s signature.
It is believed that Rahman will pen a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge to earn himself an estimated £27,000-a-week.
However, one stumbling block could be the German club’s reluctance to sell. Augsburg chairman chairman Jonas Hoffman said: “We do not need the Baba millions.
“We have a good, solid team here.
“I am very optimistic that Baba will continue his great performances with us.”
It is thought that if they do sell, they will be looking for around £14m for his signature.
