Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly turned down the chance to sign Barcelona winger Pedro after revealing that he only wants one more player this summer, which will likely be a defender, according to Sky
Mourinho had been linked with a move for the 27-year-old, but Sky say he feels his squad is close to completion and that Pedro is not a target.
Last week Chelsea made a £20m offer for Everton defender John Stones, which was promptly rejected by The Toffees (via Sky Sports).
Sky believe that Chelsea will likely make another bid for the England international, as Mourinho looks to bolster a defence that conceded the fewest goals in the Premier League last term.
“I am looking for a defender to finish this balance in our squad and after that we are ready to answer anything that can happen to our players,” he said.
Pedro has been linked with a move away during the current window, having found chances to feature last term difficult to come by, but Mourinho denied that he would be moving for the Spanish international by highlighting that he is not in need to another winger.
“I have five wingers, if I lose one maybe I am interested in another but at this moment I have balance and quality and numbers”.
Manchester United could now look to capitalise on Chelsea dropping out after the Daily Star reported that they too could trigger his release clause.
