Five reasons why Arsenal will win the 2015/16 Premier League: How Wenger can turn Gunners into title contenders

Arsenal are always mentioned as contenders for the Premier League title before the season starts, but for one reason or another always seem to fall at a crucial stage at some point during the campaign proper.

However, though they have hardly been big movers or shakers in the transfer market just yet, there is a feeling running through the club that suggests they are more up for the challenge this time around, and will make a concerted effort to surpass themselves.

Below, we’ve picked out five reasons as to why The Gunners will be a more threatening prospect this time around.

Petr Cech

5. Petr Cech

Arsenal haven’t had a truly world class goalkeeper since David Seaman departed back in 2003. Jens Lehman came closest to filling the England star’s gloves, but ultimately was too much of a loose cannon to really make the difference.

And now, having kissed a series of frogs, it looks as though Arsene Wenger has finally found his prince. At 33, the Czech international is still in his prime in his position, and could possibly see out his career in between the sticks in West London. His presence at the back will give defenders an enormous confidence boost and his experience will mean that they won’t concede so many soft goals.<--nextpage-->

4. Match winners

Not since the likes of Robert Pires, Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp all graced the squad have Arsenal had so many match winners in their midst. With Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck all at their disposal, there is a talented group of players that can pull something out of nothing.

If Wenger can make shrewd additions to that crop then there’ll be no stopping them.
