Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling is said to be having a medical with Manchester City on Tuesday afternoon before completing his £49m move to the Premier League runners up, according to the Daily
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed on Monday that the club had accepted an offer for the 20-year-old, thus giving light at the end of the tunnel of what could have become a major summer transfer saga.
Sterling was set to join the rest of his teammates on a pre-season tour to the Far East on Sunday, but ended up staying behind complete his move to City.
Sky Sports are now reporting that the England international is currently undergoing his physical exam before completing his move, and The Reds are waiting for the deal to go through before springing for a replacement.
The Express also report that a good chunk of the money they will receive for Sterling will be spent on Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke after they agreed to meet his £32.5m release clause.
However, the Belgian international isn’t best suited to Liverpool’s style of play, and there could be a case put forward to suggest that they would be wasting their money by signing him instead of extending their search for someone better suited.
