Nathaniel Clyne has explained that his mind was made to move to Liverpool as soon as he found out that the club were interested.
According to the Daily Express, the 24-year-old has today completed his move to Anfield, and has signed a five-year deal worth £90,000 a week.
The Express suggest that Manchester United were also keen on the defender, nevertheless he decided to move to Merseyside and ignore Louis van Gaal’s interest. He explained that it was a no-brainer once he found out that Brendan Rodgers’ side were keen.
“As soon as Liverpool showed their interest in me, I was happy and just wanted the deal to go through,” he said.
He also revealed that playing in front of the Kop was also a large motivating factor behind his decision.
“I’ve played at Anfield before and know what the atmosphere is all about. It’s a great atmosphere and will make me rise to the challenge,” he added.
Reds fans will be hoping that he enjoys a lot more success than the trio that made the same journey last summer. Southampton’s exodus saw Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, and Dejan Lovren all head to Anfield, and while the former of the three showed some promising signs towards the end of the campaign, the latter pair struggled to win fans over.
