Arsenal star Olivier Giroud has never been depicted as someone that lacks confidence and he has further backed up that images by saying that he would welcome the arrival of a new striker at the club, according to the Daily
With just Giroud and Danny Welbeck as Arsenal’s only outright strikers, manager Arsene Wenger has been tipped to delve into the transfer market this summer to look for reinforcements.
The Frenchman came in for criticism from Gunners legend Thierry Henry last season, who was left unimpressed by Giroud’s performances and called for the club to bring in another goal getter in order to help them challenge for the Premier League title (via the Daily Mail).
But Giroud has confirmed that he is not conceded about the continued links to the likes of Karim Benzema (via The Guardian) as competitions for places in the starting XI is just a part of football and not something anon should be afraid of.
“I’m not honouring this question. I’m trying to focus on my pre-season preparations,” he said.
“We are doing well together with a really good [cohesion] and the most important thing for me is that the team is always improving.
“If there is a new striker, it will be nice for all the team, because competition is good for everyone.”
