The 29-year-old was in Sevilla this weekend to attend a wedding, and AS reporters caught up with him outside the ceremony to enquire into how well the talks to take him to Old Trafford are progressing.

However, he denied that he was even in negotiations with anybody.

“I am not negotiating with anyone,” he said.

The Spanish international was then asked if he would then be remaining with Real Madrid beyond the summer, which was met with a stony silence before being followed by “All is very well”.

AS seem to believe that his quotes possess a double meaning, and can be interpreted as he is either not in talks with United about a move, or he is not negotiating with Real over a new deal.

The report is also keen to highlight that he gave nothing away with his facial expressions or his demeanour, which after years of Real Madrid media training one could expect that he has become an expert at deflecting difficult questions.
