Although he failed to score in his first five games for Barcelona, the 28-year-old proved to be a fantastic signing following his £75m move from Liverpool (via Mirror). He scored 16 times in La Liga, and added another 14 assists in the top flight as Barca won the league and domestic cup double. He would add seven goals in just ten Champions League games, including what would prove to be the crucial goal in the final victory against Juventus.
9. Yaya Toure (£210,000 a week)
The Manchester City talisman may not have enjoyed his best season since his move to the Etihad five years ago, but he remains an integral part of Manuel Pellegrini’s plans. He has scored in both their successful cup finals since his arrival at Eastlands, with his goal in the 2011 FA Cup final proving to be only strike during their victory over Stoke City.
