Arsenal have made offer for Karim Benzema and Real Madrid are happy to let him go, reports claim

Despite the Daily Mirror previously claiming that Arsenal had not made a bid for Karim Benzema, the Metro are suggesting that not only have the north London side put an offer on the table, but Real Madrid are willing to let the Frenchman leave this summer.

In the wake of the Gunners’ disappointing result against West Ham during the opening weekend of the new Premier League season, there were plenty calls for Arsene Wenger to do everything in his power to land the 27-year-old if the side wanted to stand a chance of lifting the title in the near future. Judging by the Metro’s claims, he has listened.

And Los Blancos are not planning to stand in Benzema’s way should he decide he wishes to go to the Emirates as Rafa Benitez has already drawn up a list of potential replacements, including Sergio Aguero and Edinson Cavani (via Metro).

The only thing standing in the way of this one happening appears to be whether Benzema wants to come to the Premier League.
