Aston Villa could be set to continue their Ligue 1 recruitment drive after targeting Monaco centre-back Aymen Abdennour as the ideal replacement to Ron Vlaar, the Metro
Vlaar left the club on a free transfer at the end of last season, but then revealed that he would be out for the next four months with a recurrence of an injury that kept him out of extended portions of the 2014/15 campaign.
Manager Tim Sherwood has since drafted in England international Micah Richards in the heart of defence, but is keen to further bolster his defensive options before the transfer window slams shut.
And now according to Mercato Foot, Villa have thrown their hat into the ring to sign the impressive Tunisian international.
However, they aren’t the only ones to display an interest in the player, and are joined by Premier League rivals Liverpool and Arsenal, as well as Roma and Barcelona, so Sherwood will have his work cut out for him if he is to pull this one out of the bag.
His agent has since confirmed that the player will be moving on from Monaco in the coming weeks.
