Barcelona boss says he wants Pedro to reject Man United, but admits it’s out of his hands

Barcelona manager Luis Enrique has admitted that he wants Pedro to reject a move to Manchester United, and instead opt to stay at the Nou Camp, the Daily Express report.

The 28-year-old has been linked with a summer switch to Old Trafford, and the Express suggest that the Red Devils’ vice-chairman Ed Woodward has flown to Spain to try and tie up a £22m deal.

And Enrique explained that he would like the Spaniard to remain with the Catalan giants, but admitted that the decision is out of his hands (via Express).

“Pedro is a world-class player. He’s shown how good he is for both club and country. Speaking as a coach, I want him to stay,” he said.

“Nothing has changed. Any changes will be dictated by him,” he added.

Enrique is in a difficult situation regarding the winger, though it is one that many managers would be desperate for. As talented as Pedro is, based on their showing last season, it would be impossible for the manager to drop any of Barca’s incredible front three. Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suarez managed 81 goals in La Liga alone.

Nevertheless, Pedro is reaching an age where most wide men tend to enjoy only a couple more years at the very highest level, and thus wants to enjoy them with regular first-team football, and it appears that Manchester United are willing to offer that.
