Chilean international midfielder Charles Aranguiz has rejected the chance to link up with Arsenal or Chelsea in favour of a move to German giants Bayer Leverkusen, the Daily
The Express claims that 26-year-old underwent a medical with the club on Wednesday ahead of completing his move to the Bundesliga.
Both Arsenal and Chelsea had been linked with his signature earlier in the summer after his performances in the Copa America attracted their attention. Strugglers Leicester City were also said to be keeping tabs on his situation as well.
However, he has snubbed interest from England and now insists that he cannot wait to get started in Germany and line up against his compatriots.
“It is important that Chilean players are in the big leagues in Europe,” he said.
“That speaks well about the work that we are doing.
“As for facing other Chileans [in Bundesliga] that is great.”
He also revealed why he apparently turned down the chance to join a Premier League side, claiming that neither Arsenal or Chelsea actually made an approach for him.
“I picked Leverkusen because they always showed interest in me. No other club talked to me. They were always very clear.”
