Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu is set to undergo a medical ahead of a surprise move to Southampton, according to the Daily
The Express report that the two clubs have already agreed a fee for the holding midfielder after Jose Mourinho decided that he was happy to let the 23-year-old move on after four years at Stamford Bridge.
Much of that time has been spent out on loan however, with the Barcelona academy graduate returning to Spain with Valencia in 2013, and then heading to Stuttgart one year later.
While this summer has been nothing like last year on the south coast, Ronald Koeman has had to deal with the sale of Morgan Schneiderlin. The Frenchman had formed an excellent partnership with Victor Wanyama just in front of the back four, and it appears that despite the former Celtic man remaining, Koeman wants to keep that balance of two holding midfielders.
The club have added Feyenoord’s Jordy Clasie in this window, but the Express report that he is out for the next few weeks with injury.
