Chelsea are closing in on completing the signing of Augsburg full-back Baba Rahman, according to German newspaper Bild, the Daily
The Star report that the Premier League champions had already agreed personal terms with the 21-year-old, who is being earmarked as Filipe Luis’ replacement, following a stunning year in the Bundesliga.
However, the two parties were apparently struggling to agree a fee for the defender, but the Star suggest that that is now sorted with the Blues set to pay the German club £17.7m for the exciting youngster.
Having had to watch his side struggle to contain Swansea, Jose Mourinho may have decided that he needed to get this deal done as soon as possible to ensure that if they come up against another energetic, lively side, they are able to do more to ensure that they have less of an impact.
The club currently lack options across the back four, so bolstering the amount of depth they possess may allow them to change things if they come up against a similarly challenging opponent.
