David de Gea nears Manchester United exit as £25.5m fee agreed with Real Madrid [Marca]

Spanish newspaper Marca are claiming that there is a late twist in the David de Gea saga, after reporting that a £25.5m fee has been agreed with Real Madrid.

The Daily Express previously stated that a deal for the Manchester United goalkeeper appeared to be dead for the time-being after Los Blancos stopper Keylor Navas rejected a move away from the Bernabeu to make room for the 24-year-old.

However, with the Spanish window’s closure looming, Madrid have decided to make the kind of offer that would tempt the Red Devils to part with their player of the season from the last campaign. The Metro suggest that the Costa Rica international could still head to Old Trafford as part of the deal.

Given de Gea’s obvious desire to move back to La Liga, it is unlikely that personal terms will prevent a deal being done in time, as the Spaniard also knows that if he remains as part of Louis van Gaal’s side, he runs the risk of watching the rest of the season unfold from the stands as he has done so far.
