Liverpool close to agreeing deal for outcast to leave club following falling out with Brendan Rodgers

Liverpool are reportedly in talks with Besiktas about a possible deal involving midfielder Lucas, according to the Daily Express.

The Reds are willing to let go of the 28-year-old after he fell out with Brendan Rodgers following the manager’s decision to leave him out of the matchday squad for the side’s opening day victory over Stoke City (via Daily Express).

And while the Turkish club are not willing to meet Liverpool’s £8m valuation of the Brazil international, it does appear that a deal is close to being agreed (via Express).

The Express report that after Besiktas only offered £3.5m, it is more likely that a season-long loan deal is set to be agreed.

While Lucas could well be returning to Anfield ahead of next season, the fact that few players have managed to work their way back in Rodgers’ plans once they have fallen out of favour would suggest that his time on Merseyside is at an end.
