Lucas Biglia’s potential move to Manchester United has reportedly taken a huge step towards completion, after the Metro
According to the Metro, the 29-year-old has agreed a four-year contract at Old Trafford, meaning that all that separates him from completing a move is the fee.
United had made a £17m bid for the Argentinian earlier in the summer, but the Serie A outfit want something much closer to £28.3m for their captain (via Metro).
While Biglia has notched up plenty of accolades during his career, including an appearance in the 2014 World Cup final, it seems an odd decision for Louis van Gaal to be pursuing him.
The Premier League side have already signed Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin, which makes it difficult to imagine where Biglia would fit into the side, even though he is perhaps more of a warrior than the other two holding midfielders.
And while you cannot read too much into the first game of the season, the problems seem to be coming further up the field, given the lack of attacking options in van Gaal’s side, rather than their ability to keep their opponents at bay.
