Man United make enquiry for Tottenham striker Harry Kane

Manchester United somewhat stole a victory from Tottenham on the opening day of the new Premier League season, and now it seems they may be keen to steal their star man.

According to the Daily Mirror, the Red Devils have made an enquiry regarding the possible signing of Harry Kane as Louis van Gaal attempts to bolster his attacking options ahead of the new season.

Following the departures of Robin van Persie and Radamel Falcao, the Dutchman currently has just Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez to call upon in terms of natural strikers. And with the Mexican being told earlier in the summer that he was free to go (via Manchester Evening News), van Gaal desperately needs to get some new faces in before the window shuts.

However, he may find it difficult to convince Mauricio Pochettino to let the England international complete a move to Old Trafford. The 22-year-old could be Spurs’ one remaining option as both Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado are expected to leave the club this month (via Mirror). The White Hart Lane side may drive a very hard bargain to ensure that they have enough resources to attempt to replace him.
