Manchester United could be set to miss out on yet another proposed transfer target as Paris Saint Germain have reportedly opened talks with Real Madrid full-back Fabio Coentrao, according to the Daily
Coentrao has long been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu having fallen behind in the pecking order to Marcelo, who is now the club’s first choice left-back.
United are rumoured to have been keeping an eye on the 27-year-old for some time now, but could be pipped to the post after PSG apparently opened talks to land his signature.
The news comes after the player’s agent, Ernesto Bronzetti, dismissed speculation that he would be making an exit from the Spanish capital during the current transfer window.
“According to what I’ve been told by Real Madrid, the player (Coentrao) will not be going anywhere, not even out on loan,” Bronzetti said.
“At Real Madrid they are not looking to move him on, at least for the time being.
“The option of the player joining Inter doesn’t even enter their thoughts. If things were to change, Coentrao would only leave for Benfica.”
