Chelsea will be able to announce that they have beaten Manchester United to the signing of Barcelona winger Pedro imminently, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.

The Red Devils had appeared to be in pole position to sign the 28-year-old (via Metro), but Marca claim that Chelsea’s bid was more attractive to the Catalan club, thus leaving the path clear for Jose Mourinho to land the Spanish international.
Marca suggest that the deal is now close to being completed, as the World Cup winner is already in London to undergo a medical.
Louis van Gaal has now given up on signing the Barca man (via Metro), and may now have to deal with the fact that one of their main rivals for the Premier League title are set to snap him up.
