Liverpool consider possible move for Spanish under-21 international available for just £4m

Liverpool are considering whether to make a move for Villarreal winger Moi Gomez, according to the Daily Mail.

The 21-year-old has recently agreed a season-long loan with Getafe after falling out with the manager of his parent club, Marcelino (via Mail). The rift between the pair means that the Spanish under-21 international will be available for as little as £4m, the Mail suggest.

That appears to have persuaded Brendan Rodgers to keep an eye on Gomez. The Reds boss was criticised in the wake of the club’s comfortable defeat to Manchester United by former defender Jamie Carragher for playing a 4-3-3 system, despite not boasting an abundance of wide players in his squad (via Liverpool Echo).

The Merseyside outfit started the game at Old Trafford with Danny Ings and Roberto Firmino working either side of Christian Benteke. However, neither have great experience in that role, and elsewhere in the squad, only Jordon Ibe is a natural wide-man.

If Rodgers is going to continue with his favoured system, then he needs to find much more depth in that area of the pitch. As he would cost just £4m, Gomez’s arrival would represent very little risk.
