Liverpool striker Christian Benteke could miss Man United clash

Liverpool could be without star striker Christian Benteke for this weekend’s clash with Manchester United after picking up a knock whist on international duty with Belgium, the Daily Express reports.

The 24-year-old was brought off at half-time of Belgium’s 1-0 win over Cyprus on Sunday night and replaced by fellow Liverpool forward Divock Origi, in what was initially thought to be a tactical change by manager Marc Wilmots.

However, having only recently returned from a thigh strain, reports in the Liverpool Echo suggest that he may be struggling to be fit in time to take on the Red Devils this weekend.

The news will come as a blow to Brendan Rodgers, who will already be without Philippe Coutinho, who is suspended after picking up two yellow cards during the shock 3-0 defeat to West Ham last month.

Liverpool are also still waiting on Daniel Sturridge to return to full fitness, and by all accounts are facing somewhat of a shortage in the attacking department already.
