Louis van Gaal and David de Gea are set to hold talks on Wednesday to try and clear the air ahead of Manchester United’s crucial clash with Liverpool, according to the Daily
The Spaniard has been sat on the sidelines for every game so far this season as speculation over a move to Real Madrid persisted. But the Express report that with the switch to the Bernabeu now in tatters, van Gaal is ready to bring the 24-year-old back into the starting line-up.
And if the Dutchman needed any convincing that de Gea is now fully focused on playing for the Red Devils, the stopper insisted that he wants to return after starting in goal for Spain against Macedonia (via Express).
“I wanted to play and now we’ll see after the international break if I’m lucky with my club,” he said.
De Gea’s return to the first-team will be a major boost for van Gaal ahead of a very important game. A victory against Brendan Rodgers’ men is a must if United want to maintain their promising start to the new season, and after Sergio Romero’s performance came in for criticism against Swansea, having de Gea back should give the side a huge lift.
