Chelsea are said to be weighing up a move for highly-rated Porto midfielder Ruben Neves after he starred in the team that beat The Blues in the Champions League this week, according to the London
The Standard claims that Chelsea have been scouting the 18-year-old defensive midfielder for some time, though he has also attracted the interest from the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid.
However, one of the main stumbling blocks stopping Chelsea from making an outright pursuit is the player’s apparent £29m release clause installed in his contract (via Standard).
Neves’ performance against Jose Mourinho’s men has apparently convinced the manager that an offer is a worthwhile effort, but it will more likely come next summer rather than in the new year (via Standard).
The Blues have been heavily linked with Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba recently (via Guardian) as Mourinho looks to strengthen his midfield areas.
Though Neves would represent a cheaper alternative to Pogba, he would be more of a risk considering he only made his debut last season.
