Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas slapped with six-month driving ban

Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas has been hit with a six-month driving ban after being caught speeding, the Daily Mirror reports.

The former Arsenal man was clocked speeding at 110mph on the A3 through Surrey by a speed camera toting police officer and on Friday Fabregas pleaded guilty to exceeding the 50mph limit at Guildford Magistrates’ Court (via Get Surrey).

Fabregas was reported to be driving metallic green Aston Martin Vantage, and was ordered to pay £2,560, made up of a £1,000 fine, £625 in court costs, £840 to the analyst that studied the camera footage as well as a £100 victim surcharge (via Mirror).

The Mirror also reports that he was slapped with six points on his license, which took him up to 12 points, landing him an automatic six-month ban from getting behind the wheel.

“Certainly, he has learned his lesson today,” said Fabregas’ barrister Ben Waidhofer.

“He (Fabregas) is genuinely remorseful. He has learned his lesson and wishes to draw a line (under the matter).

“This is not somebody who is repeatedly before the court for troubling speed cameras, running red lights, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.

“That doesn’t arise in this case. What I can tell you is that this is somebody who will not be doing it again.”

In May of this year, Fabregas was handed six points on his licence and fined £1,000 for failing to identify the driver of his car from an incident seven months earlier.
