Jose Mourinho’s agent claims reports on United letter are “absurd”

The Independent on Sunday published a report claiming that former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has written a six-page letter to Manchester United pointing out why the club should hire him to succeed Louis Van Gaal.

The report went on to mention that Mourinho has assured the club that he would be willing to change his methods to adhere to club’s principles.

As expected, the report was picked by all the major publications and was all over the internet within minutes.

However, Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes has rubbished the rumours and called them as absurd.

He wrote on www.gestifute.com: “It does not occur to anyone that a coach like Jose Mourinho can write letters to clubs offering their services.
“It is absolutely ridiculous and totally absurd.”

Following the Saturday’s 1-0 defeat against Southampton, Louis Van Gaal’s position at Old Trafford has come under intense pressure. The Red Devils was booed by the home fans on numerous occasions during the game, and the Dutch manager has seemed to have lost the support of the fans.

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho has been without a job following his exit from Chelsea last month. It’s been a guessing game on the future destination of the Portuguese, who has rumoured to be in pole-position to replace van Gaal at Old Trafford.
