Man Utd are planning a big-money bid for Real Madrid star James Rodriguez, after they were alerted to the potential availability of the player, according to Goal.com.
The Colombian international has reportedly become disgruntled at the lack of playing opportunities at Santiago Bernabeu.
The 24-year-old was not an automatic starter under former manager Rafa Benitez and managed just seven league starts. His situation hasn’t improved under Zinedine Zidane, as he failed to make the starting XI of the Frenchman’s first game in charge, against Deportivo La Coruna.
The report suggests that the Red Devils have been made aware of the potential possibility to sign the player by his agent Jorge Mendes. The super agent of football has developed excellent working relations with United over the years and he could play a key role in the deal.
James is considered somewhat dispensable at Real Madrid as compared to the likes of Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo and hence he could be a more realistic target for United.
He joined the La Liga giants from Ligue 1 club Monaco in a £56 million deal in 2014 and United would have to break the British transfer fee record to secure his services.
