Manchester United are getting serious about signing Renato Sanches, a Portuguese wonderkid that’s currently playing in his home country for Benfica, according to The
The 18-year-old has been attracting interest from all sorts of clubs across Europe. However, the Rd Devils are believed to have moved in to pole position to land Sanches after meeting Benfica officials for a second time about a deal.
United scouts have watched the teenager in three of his last four matches, although they were initially scouting winger Goncalo Guedes and full-back Eliseu. However, it was Sanches who caught their eye.
The Red Devils are keen to make a move this month, with Sanches having a £60 million buy-out clause in his contract at. But it is claimed Benfica could sell their young gun if they receive an offer in the region of £30m.
Should a deal be completed during this transfer window, the Portuguese starlet could be loaned back to Benfica for the remainder of the season.
Sanches has enjoyed a breakthrough season in the Liga NOS, making 13 appearances in all competitions and scoring two goals since making his debut in October.
Earlier this season, the 18-year-old signed a contract extension, which ties him to Benfica until 2021.
