La Liga giants Real Madrid are just not prepared to give up their pursuit of Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.
Los Blancos tried to sign the Spaniard as part of a swap deal involving Keylor Navas in the summer, but the move fell through in the last hours of the transfer deadline day.
The collapsed deal saw the relationship between both clubs turn sour as both of them blamed each other for botching the deal.
However, Spanish publication AS claims that Real Madrid president Fiorentino Perez remains interested in the 25-year old and wants to sign him after the club’s transfer ban was suspended pending appeal.
De Gea has signed a contract extension with United this season and earlier this month claimed that he is happy at Old Trafford.
“I’m happy, I’m enjoying it, and I believe in the team,” De Gea said. I train every day to be the best goalkeeper in the world, that is my aim.
“I’m not sure who the best is now, but it’s what I want. Also, to win trophies for Manchester United.”
This story refuses to die down, and one gets a feeling of inevitability from it. In an ordinary world, Real Madrid, more often than not, get their target in the transfer market. Let’s see how this one develops, as it promises to be a busy summer.
