Diego Costa’s move away from Chelsea got another push

After selling Jackson Martinez to China Atletico Madrid want to lure Chelsea striker Diego Costa back to the club, according to The Daily Mail.

The Primera Divsion team have money to spend after selling forward Jackson Martinez to Chinese champions Guangzhou Evergrande for an Asian record fee £31 million on Tuesday.

Now, Atletico are willing to spend that money to lure Costa back to the Vicente Calderon this summer, after selling the 27-year-old to Chelsea in the summer of 2014, with the Blues meeting the Spain international’s £32 million release-clause.

Costa never really settled in at Stamford Bridge. He did score 20 goals in his first Premier League season, but struggled to get it going in his second, before finding his groove again under Guus Hiddink.

He would be the second player to have moved to Chelsea and then back to Atletico Madrid after Felipe Luis completed the same journey last summer.

Atletico also made a move to lure Falcao back from Chelsea, but the Spanish giants didn’t get a deal done for the currently injured Colombian striker.
