New twist in Manchester United’s pursuit of £65m-rated striker

Manchester United have been heavily linked with a move for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and have been tipped to make a summer move for the player.

However, Juventus’ interest in the 22-year old has made matters complicated for the Red Devils.

Italian source Corriere dello Sport claims that the Serie A giants are contemplating a move for the Belgian if Alvaro Morata leaves the club in the summer.

Lukaku is valued at £65 million by the Toffees and is considered to be one of the top priorities for United in the summer transfer market.

The Belgian international has been in impressive form for the Merseysiders this season. He has scored 16 league goals this season in 25 appearances. With his strike in the 3-0 win over Stoke City, he equalled Everton’s best tally of Premier League goals in a season.

The ast Everton player to score 16 league goals in a season was Andrei Kanchelsis, who achieved the feat in the 1995/1996 season.

Lukaku joined the Toffees in a £28 million deal from Chelsea in 2014, after he had spent a season on loan at Goodison Park.
