It’s been said many times that Chelsea are primed for a massive overhaul during the 2016 summer transfer window, as Antonio Conte will take over as coach of the Blues after the European Championships in France.
According to Il Tempo (via Football-Italia), Chelsea could use midfield starlet Ruben Loftus-Cheek and on loan defender Andreas Christensen as a makeweight in a deal to bring in Roma’s Radja Nainggolan. The Blues are not willing to spend more than £28 million, but the Serie A club are holding out for a £36 million fee.
The Belgian international has three goals in 29 Serie A appearances for Roma this season, and has been on Conte’s wishlist ever since the Italian coached at Juventus.
Meanwhile, Roma have also held talks with Chelsea over the prospect of signing defender Branislav Ivanovic this summer, according to Corriero dello Sport.
Ivanovic recently extended his contract with the Blues until 2017, after many rumours indicating that he wanted his new deal to last until 2018, which would’ve run contrary to club policy. Meanwhile, Chelsea are rumoured to go in pursuit of Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos to replace the Serbian.
