Top target confirms Liverpool talks, Reds tracking Dutch forward

Liverpool’s top summer target Piotr Zielinski has confirmed that he has held transfer talks with Reds manager Jurgen Klopp.

The 21-year-old is currently in the second year of his two-year loan spell with Serie A club Empoli from Udinese.

The Polish international has been strongly linked with a move to the Reds during the ongoing season, and he has previously also stated his desire to play for the Merseysiders.

“There is a lot of truth in rumours about Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp is interested in me, we had some talks,” Zielinski told Polish outlet Sportowe Fakty, via Metro.

“I’m not thinking too much about it right now. I’ve still got few games to play for Empoli and after that, there is still Euro 2016 in France.”

Zielinski has scored four goals and provided four assists in 30 league appearances this season. He has also been watched by Napoli, Juventus and Roma recently, as he scored for Empoli in their 2-0 win over Fiorentina on Sunday.

Liverpool have also been linked with a move for AZ Alkmaar forward Vincent Janssen. The 21-year-old is currently leading the goal-scoring charts in the Dutch Eredivisie, scoring 21 goals in 30 league appearances.

According to Spanish publication Don Balon, the Reds are interested in the Dutch international, who is valued in the region of £10 million by his club.

Janssen made his full Netherlands debut in the international friendly against England last month. He scored a goal and provided an assist in the 2-1 win at Wembley Stadium.
