Liverpool have continuously been linked with Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze since Jurgen Klopp has taken charge at Anfield.
The German international was long linked with an exit from the Allianz Arena, and the Reds were one of the clubs interested in his service.
However, the 23-year-old has recently stated his desire to impress Bayern manager Carlo Ancelotti and now it seems likely that he will stay put at his current club beyond summer.
German publication SportBild has claimed that Klopp recently met Gotze, but the player told his former manager that he intends to stay at Bayern.
Gotze’s former club Borussia Dortmund were also linked with a move for him, but according to the report, he has sent the same message to them.
The forward lost his spot in Bayern’s starting eleven under former boss Pep Guardiola, but the Ancelotti arrival at the club has presented him an opportunity to cement his place in Bayern’s team.
Gotze’s current contract with Bayern expires in 2018, and this could result in him leaving the club for free next summer.
