Manchester United are close to completing a deal for Benfica defender Victor Lindelof, according to recent reports.
The Swede has enjoyed an impressive season in the Portuguese league and played an important role in Benfica’s league success by making 30 appearances for the club, four coming in the Champions League.
Swedish source Aftonbladet has claimed that the Red Devils have already made an offer of £20 million for the 21-year-old and expect to wrap up the deal soon. United have reportedly scouted the centre-back on a number of occasions this season.
Portuguese publication Record has further reported that Benfica are likely to accept any offer of more than £15 million for their player.
Reports have also claimed that La Liga giants Barcelona are tracking the Sweden international and could provide stiff competition to United for his signature.
Lindelof was also linked with a move to the recently promoted Middlesbrough during the January transfer window. However, a move failed to materialize as the player was not keen on moving to a second tier club at that time.
