Arsenal are leading the race to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claims that Bayern want to get rid of the 24-year-old, despite his willingness to fight for his place in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad and the Gunners have emerged as frontrunners in his pursuit.
Gotze’s former club Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool have also been linked with the player strongly.
Meanwhile, Arsenal forward Theo Walcott has turned down interests from Liverpool and Manchester City to stay at the Emirates Stadium.
Football Insider, last week, claimed that the Reds are ready to offer £25 million for Walcott. The Citizens have also been linked with a move for the 27-year-old.
However, according to Daily Telegraph, Walcott sees his immediate future with the Gunners and is ready to fight for his place in Arsene Wenger’s team.
Walcott was heavily criticised for some of his performances with the North London club in the second half of the season. It was widely reported that Wenger will allow him to leave the club in the summer.
